Automotive Transport

Your vehicle isn't just cargo.
We treat it that way.

Automotive transport requires a different level of care, skill, and attention than standard freight. Our carriers are trained specifically for vehicle transport — and your car arrives the way you left it.

Why automotive is different

Not every carrier can haul a car. Not every broker knows the difference.

Moving a vehicle isn't the same as moving a pallet. The equipment is specialized, the loading and securement techniques are specific to vehicle type, and the consequences of getting it wrong show up as dents, scratches, and damage claims.

We work exclusively with carriers who are properly trained and equipped for vehicle transport. Before any car goes on a trailer, we verify the carrier's experience, equipment, and credentials. Your vehicle is valuable — we take that seriously.

Whether you're moving a daily driver across two states or shipping a classic car across the country, the level of care we apply is the same.

Who we move vehicles for

One-time move or a regular route —
we handle both.

Auto transport isn't just for dealers and collectors. We move vehicles for all kinds of people in all kinds of situations.

Individuals & families

Relocating for work, buying a vehicle out of state, or simply need your car somewhere you can't drive it to. We make the logistics easy so you can focus on everything else.

Snowbirds

Heading south for the winter — or north for the summer — every year? Many of our automotive customers make this run annually. We know the routes, and we make it seamless every time.

Businesses & dealerships

Fleet relocations, dealer trades, auction purchases, or off-lease returns — we handle volume vehicle transport with the same care and accountability as a single-car move.

Classic & specialty vehicle owners

Classic cars, exotics, and low-production vehicles deserve enclosed transport and carriers who understand what they're carrying. We source the right equipment for vehicles that can't afford a scratch.

Electric vehicle owners

EVs are heavier than comparable gas vehicles and require carriers who understand load limits and proper securement for EV-specific undercarriage designs. We account for this in every EV transport we arrange.

Online vehicle buyers

Bought a car online from across the country? We bridge the gap between purchase and delivery — coordinating pickup directly with the seller and delivering to your door.

Carrier options

Open or enclosed — which is right for you?

Both carrier types are safe and reliable. The right choice depends on your vehicle, your budget, and your peace of mind.

Standard

Open carrier

The most common and cost-effective way to ship a vehicle. Your car is loaded onto an open multi-level trailer alongside other vehicles. The same method used to deliver new cars from manufacturers to dealerships.

Most affordable option
Widely available — faster scheduling
Safe for most standard vehicles
Exposed to weather and road debris
Best for: everyday vehicles, fleet moves
Premium

Enclosed carrier

Your vehicle is transported inside a fully enclosed trailer, completely protected from weather, road debris, and the elements. The standard for high-value, classic, and specialty vehicles.

Maximum protection from elements
Ideal for classics, exotics, EVs
Fewer vehicles per load — more attention
Higher cost than open transport
Best for: high-value and specialty vehicles

How we protect your vehicle

Damage-free transport starts before the truck moves.

Before your vehicle ever leaves the ground, we make sure the carrier assigned to your load is qualified for the job. That means the right equipment, properly trained operators, and carriers who understand that what they're loading isn't just cargo — it's someone's vehicle.

We document condition at pickup, verify securement, and stay accountable through delivery. If anything isn't right, you hear from us — not the other way around.

Carrier credentials verified
Condition documented at pickup
Equipment matched to vehicle type
EV weight and specs accounted for
Licensed, bonded & insured
24/7 support throughout transit

Heading south for the winter?

Snowbird transport is one of our most popular services. If you make the seasonal migration between northern and southern states — whether once or every year — we can coordinate your vehicle transport to coincide with your travel plans. Many of our snowbird customers book the return trip at the same time. Call us to discuss how we can make both legs of the journey easy.

Common questions

Auto transport FAQs

The questions we hear most from vehicle owners — answered straight.

Transit time depends on the distance and route. Short hauls (under 500 miles) typically take 1–3 days. Cross-country transport generally runs 7–10 days. We'll give you a realistic timeline when we confirm your booking — and we don't overpromise on delivery windows.
Remove personal items from the vehicle — they're not covered by transport insurance. Leave about a quarter tank of fuel. Make sure the battery is charged and the vehicle runs (for operable transport). Document any pre-existing damage with photos before pickup. We'll walk you through anything specific to your vehicle when we confirm your booking.
Yes. Inoperable vehicles require a winch to load and unload, which requires specific equipment and adds to the cost. Let us know your vehicle's condition when you request a quote so we can match it with the right carrier.
Yes. All carriers in our network are required to carry cargo insurance that covers vehicles in transit. My Precious Cargo is also fully bonded and insured as a licensed freight broker. We recommend keeping your personal auto insurance active during transport as an additional layer of coverage.
We strongly recommend against it. Personal belongings inside the vehicle are not covered by carrier insurance. Additionally, extra weight can affect how the vehicle sits on the trailer. Travel light — pack what you need and ship the rest separately.
Yes, and we take EVs seriously. Electric vehicles are significantly heavier than comparable gas models, which affects carrier load limits and securement requirements. We source carriers who are experienced with EVs and account for weight and undercarriage considerations in every EV booking. Our quote form includes an EV option so we can price it accurately from the start.
